Mary Mikaelyan is an artist based in Yerevan, Armenia. Working with different media she examines the potentialities and the politics of actual, bygone, imagined and possible spaces, structures and practices. Using the methods of archiving, diary, documentation and fiction she studies the complex relations between memory, knowledge, imagination and possibility. She researches invisibility in terms of geographies, the relations between varied knowledge practices and art making and the construction of presence in multiplicity of pasts and histories. Her recent work centers around agricultural and ecology-transforming policies during modernization in Armenia. Parallel to her artistic research she is part of Studio 20 artistic and curatorial collective.
